Amber Romine, Principal
Amber blends her leadership experience in high performing organizations with her expertise in the practice of coaching and development to deliver high impact, high value services to her clients. As the Principal of Pond Leadership Group, Amber accesses an extensive network of coaches and consultants to provide expert resources to her clients.
Amber is an experienced executive coach, consultant, and facilitator. She has a strong track record of success providing executive coaching, team alignment & facilitation, and leadership development workshops to clients across the public and private sectors, including many in the Global Fortune 500.
Amber is sought after for her engaging style, insight, and skill as a trusted advisor. An expert in the field, she was a contributing author to Best Practices in Leadership Development, Second Edition, quoted in the WSJ, and has been a featured presenter at leadership development conferences. After graduating from the Leadership Coaching Program at Georgetown University, she was invited to join the faculty and serve as an assessor for Georgetown’s Institute for Transformational Leadership.
An experienced leader, Amber is the former board chair for Miriam’s Kitchen, an award-winning DC-based homeless services organization, and the current board governance chair for the AIDS Resource Foundation for Children. Amber spent twelve years with PricewaterhouseCoopers where she was a management consultant to leading companies in the health care sector and a director in global human capital.
Amber holds a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential from the International Coaching Federation, a master’s degree from the Harvard Kennedy School, and a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University. Amber is certified in a range of personality assessments and feedback instruments.
Amber lives in Washington, DC with her husband and three children. She is an avid podcast and poetry fan, an amateur birder and can often be found strumming the ukulele.

EXECUTIVE COACHING
PLG works with clients in one-on-one executive coaching relationships. The typical engagement lasts for 6 months to 1 year and is contracted through the leader’s organization. We serve as thought partners, allies and advisors to executives expanding their scope and navigating organizational change. We also prepare executives for higher levels of leadership with targeted behavioral coaching and competency development. Our approach includes:

Confidential meetings for reflection and action (virtual and in-person)

TEAM ALIGNMENT & FACILITATION
PLG works with leadership and executive teams to achieve higher levels of performance. The typical engagement is for up to four team sessions over the course of a year. PLG designs the team sessions in partnership with the client and facilitates the sessions. We utilize our expert listening and intervention skills to move teams forward with practical insights and actions. Whether in need of alignment around vision and execution, trust and relationship building, or a plan to navigate complex change, PLG moves teams productively toward their goals. PLG also provides meeting facilitation services. We manage the agenda, track progress and agreements, and ensure widespread participation so team members can focus on the task at hand. Our approach includes:

Creating spaces for difficult conversations
Clear session objectives and detailed plans
Informative team performance and style assessments
Proven strategies to engage and motivate team members

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS & PROGRAMS
PLG provides expert consultation, design and delivery of comprehensive leadership development programs and single session workshops. Following a careful needs assessment, PLG customizes an approach that reflects evidence-based adult learning principles, innovative design elements, and a commitment to fun. In delivering training, PLG brings dynamism, energy, humor, and credibility to the learning environment resulting in highly rated programs and high impact learning. Workshop topics include communication, conflict, navigating change, self-awareness, building high performing teams, and management skills. Target groups for comprehensive programs include high-potential leaders in cohort programs, management and staff in functional and cross-functional programs, senior leaders in targeted capacity building programs. Our approach includes:
Careful assessment of the learning needs and organizational culture
Highly interactive sessions that deliver on client’s strategic objectives
Concepts presented in an easy-to-digest format, with industry relevant examples
Use of peer learning and coaching support to support sustained change
Recommending program faculty to round out the delivery team

In government, we have experience at the state and federal levels, working with education, the courts, the Department of Commerce, and the National Institutes of Health. In the social sector, we have worked with academic institutions, philanthropic organizations, and community-based, national and global non-profits. We have deep experience in a global context having worked with leaders from more than forty countries. We are also fortunate to partner with other firms and organizations to deliver services to clients.
